Chief Scientist, Fraunhofer FKIE
Wolfgang Koch, Fellow IEEE, studied Physics and Mathematics at the Aachen Technical University RWTH, where he earned a PhD degree in Theoretical Physics. At Bonn University, he holds a habilitation degree and teaches as a Professor for Computer Science on Sensor Data Fusion, AI, and Resources Management. In parallel, he is the Chief Scientist at Fraunhofer FKIE works on problem of digitalization in the defence and security domain. Of particular interest for him are ethical and legal aspects of AI and automation. He is one of the initiators and co-chair of the working group “Responsible Technology for a Future Combat Air System”. In the international arena, Wolfgang Koch is active in the IEEE Aerospace and Electronic Systems Society AESS, the NATO Science and Technology Organization STO, and the International Information Fusion Society ISIF.
