Florian Süssenguth is dedicated to the interplay of emerging technologies – most recently quantum technologies, industrial AI and leading edge microelectronics – and key questions of innovation policy. As project leader for the German National Academy of Science and Engineering he advises the German Government on the potential of innovation to strengthen competitiveness, sustainability and technological sovereignty. As a sociologist by training he is curious about the way disruptive innovation often arises from the serendipitous crossing of scientific, economic and political paths and the resulting productive mutual irritation.
