Omer Hakim
Omer Hakim serves as the representative of the Israel Public Policy Institute (IPPI) in North America. Omer has over ten years of experience in community development, youth leadership and nonprofit management. In addition, Omer currently serves as the representative of Givat Haviva and the Youth Organization Hashomer Hatzair in the United States and Canada. Previously, Omer had held several positions in Hashomer Hatzair International Youth Movement, most recently as the Director of the European & Australian department, which covered the Movement’s activity in fourteen different countries. In 2011, Omer received the International Parliamentary Scholarship on behalf of the German Bundestag and spent five months as an advisor at the office of the Chairman of the German-Israeli Parliamentary group. He was also active in Crossing Borders, an NGO based in Denmark that works to provide young people and educators with the tools and knowledge needed for creating space for dialog among different cultures and viewpoints. Omer is still active in the IDF National Search and Rescue unit, where he is responsible for strengthening the international cooperation with other national units, especially within the United Nations. He holds a BA in Jewish History from the University of Haifa and an MA from the DAAD Center for German and European Studies.
